This tells the story of Amundsen’s successful dash to the Pole. Amundsen was also a member on the ill-fated Belgica expedition; his diary from this expedition was published in 1999 (Roald Amundsen’s Belgica diary, edited by Hugo Decleir).

Borchgrevink, C.E., First on the Antarctic Continent: Being an Account of the British Antarctic Expedition, 1898[-]1900, 1901

Borchgrevink collected the first vegetation from the Antarctic continent, and was sponsored by publishing magnate George Newnes to lead his own expedition south. He wintered at Cape Adare and then made the first sledge journey on the Ross Ice Shelf.
